⛺️ Maquoketa Caves State Park

9688 Caves Rd, Maquoketa, IA 52060

Maquoketa Caves State Park is one of Iowa’s most exceptional and beloved parks. It boasts more caves than any other Iowa state park, with thirteen caves visitors can explore.

Undoubtedly, exploring the caves is the most popular park activity. Still, camping and hiking are also popular activities here.

The small campground at Maquoketa Caves State Park is situated among picturesque pine trees. And one of the major advantages of staying at this campground is its proximity to the caves. Just a short walk from the campground, you’ll find trails that lead to these intriguing natural wonders.

Maquoketa Caves State Park campground:

  • 24 electric sites, 6 non-electric sites, and 3 youth group campsites.
  • All sites are back-in with gravel surfaces. 
  • Dump station
  • Most sites are spacious and level.
  • The campground was renovated in 2018.

⛺️ Lakehurst Riverside Campground

4397 173rd Ave, Maquoketa, IA 52060

Lakehurst Riverside Campground is on the western edge of Maquoketa and about 8 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. It’s along the scenic shores of the Maquoketa River, next to bluffs and a dam.

The small campground has electric sites and primitive tent sites, and a covered pavilion for gatherings. As an added perk, many sites also have river views!

  • 8 electric sites and primitive tent sites
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Covered picnic shelter
  • Riverside sites

⛺️ 6B’s Campground

6624 Caves Rd, Maquoketa, IA 52060

6 B’s Campground is 3 miles northwest of Maquoketa and just four miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. This prime location is along the Maquoketa River and is a popular spot for boating.

The campground offers electric and non-electric campsites, a boat ramp, and a playground, as well as hiking and ATV trails. Plus, it’s just down the road from the state park.

6B’s Campground:

  • Economical camping rates
  • Electric & water sites and non-electric sites
  • No dump station on-site
  • Kayak and Canoe rentals

⛺️ Highway 62 RV Park

403 IA-62, Maquoketa, IA 52060

Highway 62 RV Park is on Maquoketa’s east side near the fairgrounds. This small campground has eight full hookup sites, is close to shopping and dining options, and is 8½ miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park.

Highway 62 RV Park campground:

  • 8 full hookup sites with a picnic table and a fire ring
  • Reservations accepted
  • Gravel surfaces
  • Relatively spacious and level sites

⛺️ Horseshoe Pond Campground & Park

905 S Main St, Maquoketa, IA 52060

Horseshoe Pond is a city park and campground on Maquoketa’s south side. This 11-acre park has a small pond with a fishing pier, a picnic shelter, a walking path, and a creek.

It’s near dining and shopping options and 10 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park.

Horseshoe Pond camping:

  • 22 electric sites (3 pull-through); tent camping
  • Available first-come, first-serve (but you can make reservations through city hall).
  • Gravel surfaces, mostly level.
  • Dump station on site.

⛺️ Eden Valley Park Campground & Cabins

1415 50th Ave, Baldwin, IA 52207

Eden Valley Park is a Clinton County Park twelve miles west of Maquoketa and thirteen miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. 

This 200-acre park is on the shores of Bear Creek and is surrounded by nature. It has a campground and cabins for rent, plus a nature center, hiking trails, an observation tower, and more.

The campground has electric sites, primitive tent sites, and cabins at economical rates. 

Eden Valley Park Campground:

  • Electric sites, primitive tent sites, hike-in tent sites
  • 3 cabins
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Picnic shelter, nature center, observation tower
  • First come, first serve for most campsites
  • Make reservations online for cabins, the shelter, and pack-in sites

⛺️ Fillmore Recreation Area Campground

21655 US-151, Cascade, IA 52033

Fillmore Recreation Area is a 116-acre park with a golf course and nature activities. It’s 22 miles north of Maquoketa Caves State Park and 29 miles from Maquoketa. Plus, it’s only 20 minutes from Dubuque.

The small campground has electric and water hookups and primitive tent sites. 

Fillmore Recreation Area Campground:

  • 12 campsites; electric & water hookups and tent sites
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Picnic shelters, playground, golf course

⛺️ Riverview Ridge Campgrounds

24224 Riverview Rd, Cascade, IA 52033

Riverview Ridge Campgrounds is between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque and 25 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park.

This campground offers fun amenities, like miles of hiking trails, fishing, and river tubing rentals! 

The campground has everything from full-hookup and pull-thru sites to primitive tent campsites.

Riverview Ridge Campground:

  • Full hookup, water & electric, electric only, and tent sites.
  • Overnight and seasonal campsites.
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Pavillion

⛺️ Deep Creek Campground

114-118 1st St, Charlotte, IA 52731

Deep Creek Campground is at Charlotte City Park. It’s 15 miles southeast of Maquoketa and a 30-minute drive to Maquoketa Caves State Park. It’s centrally located in Charlotte near a couple of local restaurants.  

The campground has some full-hookup sites and is near a playground, basketball court, and picnic shelter. 

Deep Creek Campground:

  • 15 campsites, some full-hookups
  • Gravel, back-in, mostly level sites
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • First-come, first-served sites

⛺️ Walnut Grove Park Campground

Park Rd, Wheatland, IA 52777

Walnut Grove Park is a 24-acre Clinton County Park on the shores of the scenic Wapsipinicon River. It’s twenty miles from Maquoketa, twenty-five miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park, and 22 miles north of I-80. 

This park is popular for camping, fishing, and boating. And it offers a playground, picnic shelter, volleyball, basketball, disc golf, and more!

The campground has electric and non-electric tent sites, and some sites have river views! It’s a popular spot for fishing and paddling.

Walnut Grove Park Campground:

  • 25 electric and 12 tent sites
  • Gravel, back-in sites
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Boat ramp, picnic shelter, playground, and more
  • Sites are first-come, first-served

⛺️ Porth’s RV Park

101 Grove St, Calamus, IA 52729

Porth’s RV Park is on Calamus’ south side, near the city park, and just off Highway 30. This makes it a popular overnight stop with some long-term stays. It’s 22 miles south of Maquoketa and 27 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. 

The campground is all gravel (with a city park across the street) and is ideal for trailers and RVs.

Porth’s RV Park campground:

  • Full hookup sites, electric and water hookups
  • All gravel campground, with picnic tables
  • City park across the street
  • Call for reservations and information (563-246-2665)

⛺️ Swiss Valley Park Campground

9483 Whitetop Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003

Swiss Valley Park is a 62-acre park near Dubuque, Iowa, along Catfish Creek. It’s 29 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. 

The park has a nature center, hiking trails, trout fishing, and more.

Swiss Valley Park Campground offers electric and water hookups and primitive campsites. There are picnic shelters, a playground, and volleyball nearby.

Swiss Valley Park Campground:

  • 60+ campsites: electric & water hookups and tent sites (some reservable)
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Dump station on-site

⛺️ Spruce Creek Park Campground

30711 396th Ave, Bellevue, IA 52031

Spruce Creek Park is a 43-acre park on Bellevue’s north side. It’s along the shores of the Mississippi River and 28 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. 

The park is popular among boaters and great for river views. A boat ramp and dock rentals are on-site.

The campground has electric sites, a playground, and a picnic shelter.

Spruce Creek Park campground:

  • 80 electric campsites, some paved
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Dump station on site
  • See the campground map here; no reservations (first-come, first-serve)
  • Campground closes during high water levels

⛺️ Bellevue State Park Campground (Dyas Unit)

21466 429th Ave, Bellevue, IA 52031

The Bellevue State Park Dyas Unit is three miles south of Bellevue and 27 miles northeast of Maquoketa Caves State Park. 

The park offers miles of hiking trails with scenic views of the Mississippi River, a butterfly garden, and several picnic shelters.

The campground has electric and non-electric tent sites, with a playground and hiking trails nearby.

Bellevue State Park campground (Dyas Unit):

  • 22 electric sites, 4 non-electric sites, and 7 walk-in sites
  • Modern restrooms/showers
  • Dump station

⛺️ Off Shore RV Park

4115 Riverview St, Bellevue, IA 52031

Off Shore RV Park is three miles north of Bellevue, along the shores of the beautiful Mississippi River. It’s a 30-minute drive from Maquoketa Caves State Park.

This large RV park has many amenities and fun things to do, including an Aqua Park with a beach, a hotel, and dining on-site.

Off Shore RV Park camping:

⛺️ Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Campground and Resort

This large campground and resort is between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque and is 29 miles from Maquoketa Caves State Park. 

If you’re looking for a campground with fun activities, this could be the one! It has a pool, jumping pillows, a watercourse, river tubing, a playground, and more (day passes available).

The campground has everything from full hookups to tent sites to cabins; some are riverside and beachside. 

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Campground:

  • Full hookup, water and electric, electric only, and tent sites
  • Cabin rentals
